This short newspaper advertisement from the Philadelphia Tribune invites potential customers to attend a meeting of the Berean Building and Loan Association. The text encourages members to deposit their funds with a building and loan association over a regular bank. Isadore Martin was the head of Berean Building and Loan Association, which used investors money to provide loans for people who wanted to buy homes throughout the Great Migration in Philadelphia. Berean Building and Loan Association allowed numerous southern African Americans to buy their homes in West Philadelphia. This advertisement allowed for the development of a unique home owner culture throughout new Philadelphians.
